My name is Jude Hill and somewhere along the way, it seemed I might be able to communicate something through cloth making.
.....my pieces evolve through a process of thought catching and what-iffing.
Each work is a sampler of a kind, containing new techniques and ideas, each a study for the next.
I use these cloths as metaphors for change and life's journey... as time keepers, amulets, reminders of process and patience.
My style is based on layers, the nature of fabric, redefining traditional techniques, unconventional cloth construction, mending, the relationship of sewing to weaving, re-purposing and gift giving.
I call myself an alternative quilter and a folk artist. I would love to be a teacher someday.
